Most first time visitors are surprised when they see the variety of nightlife in Dubai. Dubai after dark pulsates with the excitemnet of a bustling nightlife, considered to be one of the most vibrant in the wold. The nighlife here is mostly found in hotels dotted all over the city from Deira to Jumeirah and areas in between.

It is only after the sun down that the real social scene, full of fun and frolic, kicks off. The city offers an excellent selection of hippest hang-outs -chic bars, sleek pubs, DJ joints, western mannered salons, cocktail lounges and night-clubs brimming with pumping beats. The outlets compete to put entertaining live shows, food festivals and theme nights for flocks of night clubbers who patronize these joints.

International DJ's fly in on a very regular basis to perform for the multinational crowds of residents and tourists. There are fascinating lounges offering spectacular views, nightclubs with state of the art sound and light, and sports bars offering international brands and sports channels.

Since alcohol licenses are mainly only provided in tourist spots; almost all clubs, bars, lounges, pubs, and sports bars are located in hotels. Entry to most of these are strictly couples only or mixed groups. It is rare to find a night club which permit male groups to enter even if entrance fees apply. Bars, clubs, lounges and pubs generally close at 2am, and night clubs in Dubai close at 3am.

Most nightclubs in Dubai have nights for House music, Urban hip hop and RnB, Fusion, Indian, Arabic, Iranian and other themed genres with specialist bands and DJ's for the same.

New Dubai offers most of its night clubs in the Dubai Marina, Jumeirah beach hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road and Atlantis Palm 5* hotels. Many 4* hotels in Al Barsha, Sheikh Zayed , Deira and Bur Dubai also boast good sports bars, pubs and smaller night clubs. Al Garhoud near the airport is host to The Irish Village and Century Village both of which are not connected to a hotel. Bur Dubai and Deira hotels are also famous for lively karaoke nights, and the kinds of clubs which permit and entertain groups of males.
